YWAM Perth is actively engaged in community partnership and oral Bible translation initiatives in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, with a specific focus on the Kimberley Kriol language. Since 2018, through a partnership with Every Tongue Ministry, the organization has worked to translate scripture, including the Gospel of Luke, into Kimberley Kriol to support local Indigenous communities.

General Language Information:
Kriol is a language spoken across the north of Australia, from WA into the Northern Territory and part of Queensland. The Kriol spoken across the north of Australia varies from east to west, and there are several dialects, even within the Kimberley region. Kimberley Kriol speakers feel their own way of speaking and writing is different to that of the East.
